  1. Log in to the Support Portal by clicking Sign In at the top of the page. While you can use the bot without signing in, more information may be available depending on your role with the college.
  2. Once logged in, locate the Bowdoin Bot avatar found at the bottom right corner of the page.
  3. Click on the Bowdoin Bot icon to open the chat window. You will see a greeting message, some additional information and a request for you to sign in, if you haven't already.
  4. Type your question directly into the chat window. For best results, keep your question clear and concise. The bot is not a search tool so providing it a short sentence or prompt will give you the best results.
  5. Bowdoin Bot uses generative AI to process your question and fetch a response based on the information stored in the knowledge base. 
  6. Review the response provided by Bowdoin Bot. If you need further clarification or different information, you can ask follow-up questions.
  7. If Bowdoin Bot doesn't find an answer, it will offer to provide one based on Internet information. This information will be clearly marked so that you know it is generated from non-Bowdoin sources.
