Environment

This article applies to staff, faculty, and students who use Microsoft Teams who want to install Teams apps as installation of new apps is restricted without approval. 

Resolution

  1. Open Microsoft Teams on your computer, web browser, or mobile device.
  2. In the left-side menu, click on Apps to browse the Teams app store.
  3. Search for the app you want to install by typing its name in the search bar.
  4. If you see a Request approval button instead of Add or Install, click Request approval.
  5. Fill in any additional details if prompted, such as why you need the app or how you plan to use it.
  6. Submit your request. Your Teams administrator will receive a notification or request for review.
  7. The administrator will review your request and decide whether to approve or decline the app installation. You will receive a notification once a decision is made.
  8. If you need the app urgently or haven’t received a response, follow up with the Service Desk for an update.
