Information
Self-service password reset is a new service which allows you to reset your Bowdoin password if forget it or if an IT representative needed to reset it in the event of a phishing or hack attempt on your account. In order to use the service in the future, you must provide secondary contact information such as a cell phone to receive an SMS message of call and/or a cell phone or land-line (at least 2 of the options are required). This guide will take you through the steps of setting up your self-service password reset settings.
Setup
Self-service password reset is part of the new single sign-on login experience that you must use to access many Bowdoin applications such as Workday, Canvas and others. You begin the process by going to https://login.bowdoin.edu then follow the steps below.
- Log in with your email address and Bowdoin password. Before clicking Sign In, check the "Rember me" checkbox.
- Click on Configure factor
- Check the “Do not challenge me on this device again” box and then click Send Me a Push, Call Me or Enter a Passcode to complete verification (however you generally receive your 2-step verification).
- Choose a forgotten password challenge question, add your phone number for SMS messages and/or a phone number for Voice Call password resets, and choose a security image. Click on Create My Account.
Once these steps are complete, you have been enrolled in self-service password reset. If you ever need to change your password, you can follow the directions in our knowledge base page "How to reset your Bowdoin Password" linked underneath the "Related Articles" section on the right.
