All CMS classes are now held online through Teams. There will be no more in-person sessions.

Cascade 8 classes are open to staff responsible for managing and editing their department/office websites; faculty/staff interested in managing their own profiles; and student workers employed by departments/offices to manage web content. 

Introduction to Cascade 8

Cascade 8 is the content management system (CMS) Bowdoin uses to manage its primary website, This class is required for editors tasked with managing their department/office websites.

Length: 60-minute online tutorial

Who should take this class?

  • New website editors tasked with managing their department/office websites and keeping them up-to-date.
  • Existing website editors who have already taken the class and just want a refresher.


  • Learn how to use the basic tools within the CMS to edit and publish content on department/office sites.
  • Identify tools available to organize and present content on the web.
  • Identify and correct non-accessible web content.
  • Create, update, and remove faculty and staff profiles from department staff listings.

Classes are offered once per month. Please use the Website Service Request form to schedule.

Faculty/Staff Profiles

Learn how to edit and update faculty and staff profile pages. Add a new profile photo, update your publications, create a short bio. This class will introduce you to our content management system (Cascade 8) and have you updating your faculty/staff profile pages in 30 minutes.

Length: 30 minutes

Who should take this class?

  • Current faculty or staff who would like to learn how to update their profile pages.
  • Site editors who want to learn how to update faculty profile pages for their department.
