Cascade 8 classes and open labs are open to staff responsible for managing and editing their department/office websites; faculty/staff interested in managing their own profiles; and student workers employed by departments/offices to manage web content. 

Introduction to Cascade 8 (Online)

Cascade 8 is the content management system (CMS) Bowdoin uses to manage its primary website, This class is required for editors tasked with managing their department/office websites and keeping them up-to-date.

Class: 60-minute online tutorial.

Who should take this class?

  • New website editors tasked with managing their department/office websites and keeping them up-to-date.
  • Existing website editors who have already taken the class and just want a refresher!


  • Learn how to use the basic tools within the CMS to edit and publish content on department/office sites.
  • Identify tools available to organize and present content on the web.
  • Identify and correct non-accessible web content.
  • Create, update, and remove faculty and staff profiles from department staff listing pages.

Classes are held monthly. Please use the Website Service Request form to schedule.

Faculty/Staff Profile Pages (Online)

Learn how to edit and update faculty profile pages. Add a new profile photo, update your publications, and create a short bio. This class will introduce you to our content management system (Cascade 8) and have you updating your faculty/staff profile pages in 30 minutes.

Who should take this class?

  • Current faculty or staff who would like to learn how to update their profile pages.
  • Site editors who want to learn how to update faculty profile pages for their department.
  • Others charged with updating profile pages.
