Use this request to
Let Networking know about a specific location on campus where wireless signal is consistently weak, drops frequently, or is absent — so they can investigate coverage in that area.
When to Use This
Use this offering when:
- A specific room, hallway, or outdoor area on campus always has weak or no Wi-Fi signal
- You consistently lose connection or see slow speeds in the same spot
- A new space (such as a recently renovated room) has poor or no coverage
- Multiple people in the same area are experiencing the same signal issue
When NOT to Use This
Don't use this offering if:
- Your device suddenly can't connect anywhere on campus — use Report a Wi-Fi Problem instead
- The problem is only on your device and works fine for others nearby — use Report a Wi-Fi Problem instead
- A whole building or area has lost connectivity — use Report a Network Outage
- You're a campus visitor on the guest network — see Guest Wireless in the Related Services section
Before You Submit
Have ready:
- The building and as specific a location as you can give (room number, hallway, floor, or outdoor area)
- Which network you're connecting to (BOWDOIN or eduroam)
- How long you've noticed the problem and whether it's consistent or only at certain times
- Your device type, if relevant
The more specific the location, the faster we can investigate. If the weak spot is in a particular corner of a room or a stretch of hallway, include that detail — it helps Networking identify which access point is involved.
What Happens Next
Networking reviews the report and investigates coverage in the area you identified. Depending on the cause, a fix may involve adjusting an existing access point, adding a new one, or addressing interference — response times vary with complexity and any infrastructure work required. You will be contacted if more information is needed.
