Use this request, if you already have Claude access, to change your funding source or adjust a usage limit.
When to Use This
Use this offering when:
- You are reaching your usage limit and need it raised.
- Your funding source has changed, for example a new grant or department account.
- A grant that funds your usage is ending and you need to update the funding on file.
- You need to move your usage costs to a different account or index code.
When NOT to Use This
Do not use this offering if:
- You do not yet have Claude access. Use Request Claude Access in the Related Services section.
- You just want to use fewer tokens. See Optimize Your Token Usage in Claude in the Related Articles section.
- Something is broken or you cannot sign in. Use Report a Claude Problem in the Related Services section.
Before You Submit
Before you request additional usage credits
Your account comes with a standard amount of usage built in. That amount refills on its own every few hours, and there is a separate weekly amount that refills on its own schedule as well. If you have hit a limit and you are not in a hurry, waiting for the next refill may be all you need.
Usage credits cover the work you do after you reach those built-in limits. This form asks us to raise your usage credit amount for the current month so you can keep working past the standard limits.
What to include in your request:
- A short justification describing the work that requires the extra usage.
- If a grant or another funding source covers your work, tell us here. We may be able to leave your higher limit in place instead of resetting it each month.
Usage credit increases end when the month ends. If you need to go over the standard limits again next month, submit this form again.

Have this information ready:
- What you are changing: a usage limit, a funding source, or both.
- The new funding source and its account or index code, if you are changing funding.
- A short reason or context for the change, such as increased project needs.
What Happens Next
Your request is acknowledged within 1 business day. Straightforward funding or limit changes are typically completed within 2 to 3 business days. You may be contacted if the change needs approval from a budget owner.
