Training Classes and Open Lab Sessions

These Cascade 8 classes and open labs are open to staff responsible for managing and editing their department/office websites; faculty/staff interested in managing their own profiles; and student workers employed by departments/offices to manage web content. 

Introduction to Cascade 8

Cascade 8 is the content management system (CMS) Bowdoin uses to manage its primary website, This class is required for editors tasked with managing their department/office websites and keeping them up-to-date. This class will be hands-on in a computer lab and there will be time to review your department website and ask questions.

Objective: Learn how to use the CMS to update and publish content on department/office sites. Get an overview of the tools available to organize and present content on the web, and to identify and correct non-accessible web content.

Prerequisite: Introduction to Cascade 8

Staff Profile Pages

Tell us more about you! This class will cover editing and updating staff profile pages, plus how to hide or show them on department/office directory pages.

Prerequisite: None

Faculty Profile Pages

Learn how to edit and update your Bowdoin faculty profile. Add a new profile photo, update your publications, and create a short bio about yourself. This class will introduce you to our content management system and have you updating your faculty pages in 30 minutes!

Open Lab Sessions

Join us in the Kanbar 101 computer lab to work on your site, get feedback, and ask questions. Registration is not required, but labs are meant to be open-ended working sessions; please be aware there could be a wait for assistance — attendees will be helped on a first-come, first-served basis.
