Fix the "This Mac can't connect to iCloud" Error

Environment

This article applies to anyone using a Mac who receives the message This Mac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem when signing in with an Apple Account. This can happen after moving data to a new computer or because of a problem with a Keychain entry.

Resolution

  1. Open System Settings and select your name (Apple Account) at the top of the sidebar.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the Apple Account panel and select Sign Out.
  3. Uncheck the items in the next window, then select Continue.
  4. Enter your Apple Account password. You will be signed out.
  5. Restart the computer and log in.
  6. Open System Settings and select Sign in with your Apple Account.
  7. Enter your Apple Account and select Next to sign in.
