  • How do I refresh or resolve problems with the Jamf Self Service app on my Mac?
  • Installing an application from Self Service does not finish.

Environment

This article applies to Bowdoin College students, faculty, and staff using college-managed Macs with the Jamf Self Service app installed. It is relevant when an application in Self Service cannot be installed, shows "Reinstall," or appears stuck.

Resolution

  1. Open the Self Service app from your Applications folder.
  2. If an app shows Reinstall, Self Service recognizes the app is already installed but can reinstall it if needed. If you are having trouble, click Reinstall.
  3. If Reinstall does not resolve the issue, quit Self Service completely by clicking the Self Service menu at the top left and choosing Quit Self Service.
  4. Restart your Mac. Restarting can resolve many temporary glitches with Self Service or the installation process.
  5. Log back in, reopen the Self Service app, and try installing or reinstalling the application again.
