Environment
This article applies to Bowdoin students, faculty, and staff using the Microsoft Outlook desktop app on Windows or macOS who want to add an interactive poll to an email.
- The availability of the poll feature depends on the Outlook version and organization settings.
Resolution
- Open Outlook. Launch the Microsoft Outlook desktop app on the Windows or macOS computer.
- Create a new email. Select New Email to start composing a new message.
- Insert a poll. In the new message window, select the Insert tab at the top of the window, then select Poll. The poll option allows a question and multiple-choice answers to be added.
- Configure the poll. In the poll window that appears, type the question and fill in the possible answers. Add more than two choices by selecting + Add option. When the poll is ready, select Insert into email to embed the poll into the message.
- Complete the email. After inserting the poll, continue composing the message and add any additional text to include with the poll.
- Send the email. When the message and poll are ready, select Send. Recipients receive the email with the poll embedded and can answer it directly from their inbox.
Note: The availability of the poll feature may depend on the Outlook version and the organization's settings.
