Issue/Question

In macOS, you receive the following message when signing in with your Apple ID: This Mac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem...

Environment

This may happen in macOS after moving to data to a new computer or a problem with a Keychain entry.

Resolution

  • Open System Preferences and click on Apple ID
  • Click Overview in the left column and then click Sign Out...
  • Uncheck the items in the next window and click Continue
  • Enter your Apple ID password and you will be signed out
  • Restart your computer and log in
  • Open System Preferences and click on Apple ID
  • Enter your Apple ID and click Next to sign-in
