Environment

This guide is intended for individuals or teams who are using a Meeting Owl 3 and wish to use it with Microsoft Teams for video conferencing. This could be in a a small meeting room, or a larger conference room.

Resolution

Setting Up Meeting Owl 3

  1. Unpackage the Meeting Owl: Open the case and take out the Meeting Owl device, power adapter, and micro USB cable.
  2. Connect the Device: Plug the micro USB cable into the bottom of the Meeting Owl.
  3. Plug the power adapter into the bottom of the Meeting Owl and the other end into a power outlet.
  4. Turn on the Meeting Owl: The Meeting Owl will turn on by itself. You will hear an audible "Hoot" when it wakes up.. Wait for the lights to turn on, indicating that the device is ready. The lights look like an owl's eyes.

Using Meeting Owl 3 with Microsoft Teams

  1. Connect Meeting Owl to Your Computer: Use a USB cable to connect the Meeting Owl to your computer (use the included USB adapter if your computer only has USB-C ports). Your computer should recognize the Meeting Owl as a new device.
    1. If using macOS, you may need to allow the device access to by clicking "Allow" in the on-screen prompt.
  2. Set Meeting Owl as the Device in Teams for audio and video: Open Microsoft Teams and go to Settings. Under Devices, select the Meeting Owl as your speaker and microphone.
  3. Start a Meeting: Now you can start a meeting in Teams. The Meeting Owl will automatically track the speaker and provide a 360° view of the room.

Using Meeting Owl 3 with Zoom

  1. Connect Meeting Owl to Your Computer: Use a USB cable to connect the Meeting Owl to your computer. (use the included USB adapter if your computer only has USB-C ports). Your computer should recognize the Meeting Owl as a new device. 
    1. If using macOS, you may need to allow the device access to by clicking "Allow" in the on-screen prompt.
  2. Set Meeting Owl as Default Device in Zoom: Open Zoom and go to Settings. Under Audio, set the Meeting Owl as your speaker and microphone.
  3. Start a Meeting: Now you can start a meeting in Zoom. The Meeting Owl will automatically track the speaker, providing a 360° view of the room.
