Classroom & Lab Technology Orientation, Training & Consults

What This Service Is

Classroom Technical Services (CTS) helps you learn and use the technology in Bowdoin's 75+ classrooms and computer labs. Whether you want a walkthrough of a room you'll be teaching in, training on running Zoom or Teams from a room, help capturing a lecture, or hands-on support for a specific hybrid class or event, this service connects you with CTS staff who know the spaces.

Each session is tailored to the room and to what you want to do — presenting from a laptop, extending displays, using room audio and projection, bringing in remote participants, or recording.

Who It's For

  • Faculty and staff teaching, presenting, or running events in campus classrooms, computer labs, and active learning spaces.
  • Anyone new to a specific room who wants to know how its equipment works before their first session.
  • Departments or groups who would like a shared training session.

How to Get Started

Choose the request that matches what you need:

  • New to a room, or want a general walkthrough of its equipment? Use Request classroom or lab orientation.
  • Want to learn how to run Zoom or Teams from a room? Use Request training on Zoom or Teams in a classroom.
  • Want to learn how to record or capture a lecture in a room? Use Request training on recording or lecture capture in a classroom.
  • Have a specific hybrid class or event coming up and want hands-on help? Use Request a consult for a hybrid class or event.
  • Want to test a room before a real session? Use Request a pre-event room test.

Not What You're Looking For?

  • Room technology broken or not working right now? Use Report Room Technology Issue in this category.
  • Need AV support staffed for a campus event? Use Request Technology Assistance for Event.
  • Just need a Zoom license (longer meetings, a webinar, a large meeting)? See the Zoom service under Chat, Communication, & Collaboration.
  • Want to read up on your own first? See the classroom technology articles in the Related Articles section.

Service Promise

We work hard to schedule a session on the date you request, but based on availability this isn't always possible. We'll work with you to find alternate dates and times. For sessions tied to a specific event, please request as far ahead as you can so there's time to prepare and test the room.
