Resolution

To synchronize documents from OneDrive online to a local computer, the sync client must be installed and set up. If you already see the OneDrive sync client's cloud icon OneDrive cloud icon. in the Task Tray on Windows or in the Finder menu bar on macOS, you can skip to the configuration steps below.

Install the sync client

All Bowdoin-managed computers should already have the OneDrive sync client installed. If you are on a personal computer that does not have the OneDrive sync client, you can download and install it from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/onedrive/download.

Configure the sync client

Configuration of the OneDrive client is similar on both macOS and Windows. Follow these steps to configure the basic sync settings.

  1. Select the OneDrive icon in the Task Tray on Windows, in the Finder menu bar on macOS, or by launching the OneDrive application itself on either operating system.
  2. A window will appear letting you know that OneDrive is not set up. Select Sign in. (If the OneDrive cloud icon disappears, wait 30 seconds for the application to update and then launch the application again.)

  9. Once setup is complete, any folders you selected will download. When finished, select the OneDrive icon to see a notification that all files are in sync.
  10. To more easily locate the files on your computer, select the OneDrive icon and choose Open folder. Your OneDrive - Bowdoin College folder will open with all of the files that are syncing up to OneDrive.
