Make me Admin for Windows - a solution for Administrator permissions requirement

Make me Admin is an app that allows you to convert your standard account to an account with Administrator permissions temporarily. This will allow you to provide Administrator credentials when required for software installation or upgrade. The Make me Admin app should have been installed on all faculty and staff Bowdoin issued Windows computers. If not, it is also available for installation in Company Portal.

Installing Make me Admin

Note: Make me Admin should already be installed on any Bowdoin-issued Windows computer. You can verify that it is installed by searching for the app in the search window at the lower left corner of your desktop or by opening the Company Portal app and clicking on the Installation Status tab.

  1. Open the Company Portal app on your Bowdoin-issued Windows computer.
  2. In the search box enter, Make me Admin and press enter.
  3. Click on the icon for Make me Admin and then click install.
 

Using Make me Admin

  1. Start the Make me Admin app on your computer.
    1. Click on the Start Menu (Windows icon in the lower-left of the screen)
    2. In the Search bar, type "Make Me Admin"
    3. Click on the Make Me Admin result that shows up in the list.
  2. In the app, select the Grant Me Administrator Rights.
  3. You will be provided administrative privileges for 20 minutes
     
  4. When asked to enter an administrator's username and password, you can now use your Bowdoin username and password when prompted.
