Environment
This guide applies to Bowdoin faculty recording a class or meeting in a classroom equipped with a PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera. The Zoom desktop app must be installed on the instructor's computer. Sign in with your own Bowdoin Zoom account.
Resolution
- Sign in to Zoom. Open the Zoom app on the instructor's computer. Click Sign In with SSO, enter
bowdoin as the company domain, and sign in with your Bowdoin credentials.
- Start or join your meeting. Click New Meeting to start an instant meeting, or click Join and enter the ID of a pre-scheduled meeting you want to record.
- Select the PTZ camera as your video source. In the meeting toolbar, click the small arrow next to the Stop Video / camera icon and select the PTZ camera from the list of available cameras.
- Adjust the camera view. Use the PTZ camera controls — either on the camera unit itself or through Zoom's video settings — to frame the shot to your desired position.
- Start recording. Click Record in the meeting toolbar and select Record to the Cloud. A recording indicator appears in the upper-left corner of the meeting window.
- Stop recording. When your class or meeting is finished, click Stop Recording in the toolbar, or end the meeting. If you recorded to the cloud, the video will process and transfer to Panopto automatically.
- Sign out of Zoom. Click your profile picture in the upper-right corner of the Zoom app and select Sign Out. This is important on shared classroom computers — always sign out before leaving to protect your account.
Where is my recording? Cloud recordings process after the meeting ends and then transfer to Panopto automatically. Log in to
Panopto to find, edit, and share your recording. Processing may take several minutes for longer sessions.
