PaperCut Printing

What This Service Is

PaperCut is Bowdoin's print management platform. It handles authentication, job queuing, and billing for all campus multi-function devices (MFDs) and network printers — in residence halls, libraries, and departmental offices. Every print job on campus goes through PaperCut, whether you're printing from a Bowdoin MacBook, a personal laptop, or a mobile device. PaperCut also manages scanning from campus MFDs to destinations including email, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams.

Who It's For

All Bowdoin students, faculty, and staff can use the service offerings on this page. Note the following restrictions:

  • Requests to add or manage cost centers are restricted to faculty and staff.
  • Request Additional Print Funds is available to students only.
  • The Library guest balance tool is available to Library staff only.

How to Get Started

Use the buttons on this page or the links in the Service Offerings section to submit a request. Not sure which to use? Use the guide below:

  • Having trouble with PaperCut software on your computer (PaperCut Client, Print Deploy, or printing from a personal or mobile device)? Use Request PaperCut Software Help.
  • Need to set up or change departmental print charging for your department? Use Manage a PaperCut Cost Center.
  • Want to change how a campus printer behaves by default (duplex, grayscale, finishing options)? Use Request Printer Configuration Changes.
  • Need to set up printing access for a campus visitor or guest without a Bowdoin account? Use Request Guest Printing Access.
  • Are you a student whose PaperCut balance has dropped below $3.00? Use Request Additional Print Funds.
  • Is a printer broken, offline, or does it need to be installed, moved, or retired? See Report Printer Issue or Request a Printer Service.
  • Need help with scanning from a campus MFD, or want to add a new scan destination? See PaperCut Scanning.
Note: Before submitting a ticket, check the Related Articles section — many common printing problems can be resolved with the self-service steps in the Knowledge Base.

Not What You're Looking For?

This service covers PaperCut software, cost centers, printer settings, guest access, and student print funds. If your need is listed below, you're in the wrong place — use the linked service instead:

  • A printer is broken, offline, jammed, or needs to be installed, moved, or retired — see Report Printer Issue or Request a Printer Service.
  • Scanning from a campus MFD (scan to email, scan to OneDrive, scan to Teams, or adding a new scan destination) — see PaperCut Scanning.
  • Scanning from a desktop scanner (not a PaperCut MFD) — use the general device support request under Devices, Printing & Scanning.
