An Azure Windows Virtual Desktop is a cloud-based virtual desktop that can act as a replacement for a traditional desktop allowing a user to perform day-to-day tasks just like using a traditional desktop. Bowdoin College is creating and will provide Azure Virtual Desktops as an option for faculty and students to access Microsoft Windows-based computer lab software on home or personal computers. Starting in Summer 2021 all students and faculty will have access to an Azure Virtual Desktop from any computer that has internet access.
